How to brew cafecito

  1. Fill cafetera base with water to the safety valve.
  2. Pack La Carreta into the funnel — level off, no pressing.
  3. Assemble, put on medium heat. While brewing, add sugar to a separate cup.
  4. Capture the first drops of coffee, whip with the sugar for 30 seconds — the espumita.
  5. Pour the rest in, stir, serve in small cups.

La Carreta vs Bustelo vs Pilón?

Bustelo is the sharpest and most bitter. Pilón is the most chocolate-forward. La Carreta sits between the two — smooth, slightly sweet, balanced. Cubans tend to be loyal to one based on what their household drank growing up.

Storage

Vacuum brick is shelf-stable until opened. After opening, transfer to an airtight container, keep cool and dark.
